Governor’s group says Abalos ripe for Senate seat

The Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines (ULAP) urged Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benjamin “Benhur’’ Abalos Jr. to run for the Senate in midterm elections.

ULAP president Dakila “Dax’’ Cua commended Abalos in particular for his dedication, expertise and efficiency in the LGUs’ “swift’’ implementation of response and recovery operations during calamities and distress times.

“His leadership and proactive measures have been crucial in mitigating the impacts of these natural calamities and ensuring the safety and welfare of our communities,” Cua said.

Likewise, the group lauded Abalos’ ability to mobilize resources, facilitate timely communication, and provide strategic direction has significantly reduced potential damage and expedited the restoration of affected areas, the governor added.

“ULAP acknowledges the role Secretary Abalos has played in enhancing the response capabilities of our LGUs. His focus on strengthening local resilience, improving infrastructure, and advocating for sustainable urban planning has set a positive example for public service and governance,” he added.

Given his contributions and proven track record, Cua noted that “ULAP believes that Secretary Benhur Abalos is a valuable asset to the nation.’’

“We are confident that his vision, leadership, and dedication to public service will greatly benefit the country on a larger scale,” Cua stressed.

The ULAP chief also stated that Abalos’ experience, commitment to good governance and dedication to serving the Filipino people make him a strong candidate to represent the interests of LGUs and promote national progress and development.
