Las Piñas gov’t launches 'ERPAT' program for paternal needs

The local government of Las Piñas launched its Empowerment and Reaffirmation of Paternal Abilities (ERPAT) program aimed at emphasizing the importance of shared parenting roles and fathers' paternal responsibilities.

Las Piñas City Vice Mayor April Aguilar said the program, initiated by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), addresses the evolving needs of modern Filipino fathers by encouraging them to move beyond traditional roles and embrace nurturing and caring responsibilities.

Aguilar expressed her support for the initiative, stating that the ERPAT program is a significant step towards recognizing and empowering fathers in their critical role within the family. 

She explained the city government will be supporting fathers in Las Piñas City through various training and development activities, ensuring they are well-equipped to fulfill their roles in their families and communities.

Aguilar said during the launching ceremony, ERPAT members vowed to participate in child rearing and family management activities, and committed themselves to being a supportive figure for their spouses and children.

The event also included discussions on various aspects of parenting, child development and importance of father’s role in a creating a nurturing family environment.
