‘Carina’ displaces 442 persons in Baguio


BAGUIO CITY — Ninety-six families or 442 individuals from five barangays here were affected by typhoon “Carina.”

The Disaster Response Operation Management Information and Coordination System of the City Social Welfare and Development Office said on Friday, July 26, that Barangay Irisan was the most affected with 26 families or 132 individuals, followed by Barangay Campo Filipino with seven families or 30 individuals; seven families or 29 individuals in Barangay Lower Magsaysay; six families or 37 individuals in Barangay Pinsao Proper; and five families or 24 individuals in Barangay Dontogan.

Soil erosion displaced 43 families, flood, 26; landslide, eight; damaged roof, six; risk of landslide, six; risk of erosion, four, and strong wind, three.

Nobody was killed,  injured, lost and only 14 houses were partially damaged.

The CSWDO reported that P151,885 worth of assistance was distributed, of which P96,500 were food packs from the local government unit; P51,185,00 worth of hygiene kits, sleeping kits, family kits, and kitchen kits from the Department of Social Welfare and Development, and blankets worth P1,200 from a donor.
