617 Egay-affected families receive P10,000 aid each


BACOLOD CITY – A total of 617 families affected by typhoon “Egay” last year in Sagay City, Negros Occidental received financial assistance totaling P6.17 million from the National Housing Authority (NHA).

Sen. Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go led the turnover of financial aid at the Taliambong Activity Center on July 20.

Each of the families received P10,000.

The cash aid was part of the NHA’s Emergency Housing Assistance Program for housing beneficiaries affected by calamities and certain incidents, according to NHA-Negros Occidental Community Support Services chief Marissa Murillo.

Murillo urged beneficiaries to use the assistance properly and ensure that it will help them in improving their situation.

In his message, Go urged the people of Sagay to be selfless in serving others and assured that he continues championing healthcare accessibility to less-privileged Filipinos.

Vice Mayor Leo Rafael Cueva thanked the senator for personally bringing the financial aid to the people of Sagay  and assured that the city government will continue to provide for the needs of those affected by calamities.

The event was attended by actor Philip Salvador, other city officials, and personnel of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).
