Video podcasts on Spotify gaining traction among Filipinos

Video podcasts on Spotify are gaining a following among Filipinos. 

Spotify data showed a 4.5 times increase in video podcast consumption compared to audio-only podcasts. 

“We are always exploring new ways to deepen the connection between creators and their fans. Our latest video feature has transformed how listeners consume podcasts on Spotify — a richer experience that is more intimate and connective. Creators are not only finding new ways to express themselves on Spotify, but also growing their audience.” said Carl Zuzarte, head of Studios at Spotify Southeast Asia.

More than 60 percent of the top podcasts in the Philippines have included video elements in their shows. Video podcasts bring to life Filipinos’ favorite podcasts such as the motivational insights and interviews from the Solo Flight Podcast and the stories on love and relationships in Lecheng Pag-ibig ‘To!.

For listeners on the road or those who prefer the pure audio experience, video podcasts on Spotify can be on background too, offering the flexibility to immerse oneself fully in the content or simply lean back and enjoy the audio stream.

Spotify also partnered with Tier One Entertainment to launch an accelerator program to equip aspiring Filipino creators with the tools they need to create and grow their podcasts.

At the launch event, Tryke Gutierrez, CEO of Tier One Entertainment, said, “With Tier One Entertainment's endless pursuit in supporting each creator's journey, we're excited to work with Spotify to develop the next generation of podcasters. This partnership is a testament to how much Spotify and Tier One values content creators across different segments, and we're thankful to those who made this partnership possible.”
