'Carina' shuts down House for 2nd straight day

Heavy rains caused and floods caused by Typhoon "Carina" has affected work in the House of Representatives for the second straight day. 

On Wednesday morning, July 24, House Secretary-General Reginald Velasco released an advisory on the suspension of work for all employees. 

"Considering the current weather conditions as reported by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, please be advised that work in the House of Representatives, [including] the conduct of the plenary session and committee hearings are suspended today, July 24, 2024," the advisory read. 

"Please stay inside your homes and keep safe, dry and warm," it added. 

On Tuesday, July 23, work in the House of Representatives was suspended past noon, also due to inclement weather. 

The current third regular session began only last Monday, July 22, the day of President Marcos' third State of the Nation Address (SONA).
