Rabiya Mateo still dreams of owning a funeral home: Walang lugi
At a glance
The dream is still alive! Despite her recent business ventures, former beauty queen and actress Rabiya Mateo still dreams of owning a funeral home for business.
It would be recalled that Rabiya wanted to open a funeral parlor in Iloilo after she competed at the 2020 Miss Universe beauty pageant, where she finished as a semifinalist.
Four years later, she delved into the real estate and jewelry business, but no funeral home existed.
"Andyan pa rin siya pero kailangan ko pala ng embalmer. Maghahanap pa ako ng embalmer. So siguro sa Iloilo pa rin kasi marami pa roon na bakanteng lote," Rabiya said during an interview in Makati City recently.
Asked why she wanted a funeral parlor, Rabiya said: "Walang lugi. Paano ko ba sasabihin? Pero kasi nag-umpisa yan sa makeup. Minsan nakikita ko hindi okay ang makeup. So kung magkakaroon talaga ako ng funeral homes gusto ko na maganda ang makeup."
On the name of her funeral home, the actress laughed and said: "Oh my God! Na-pressure talaga ako. Siguro 'Arat Na! Sakay Na!"
Rabiya said that with several businesses, she believes she needs to focus on statistical numbers.
"I really need to study the numbers. Like saan ba ang business? What's the target? Pros and cons Strength? Weaknesses? Opportunities? Threats? So kailangan pag-aralan ko siya. Hindi naman siya nangyayari overnight. That's why we have a legal team also to guide me at this point. Marami pa ako binabasa and study them as well. So hindi lang siya posting sa social media and that's it! Kailangan ko talagang pag-aralan lahat," the former Miss Universe Philippines said.
On the reaction of her boyfriend, actor Jeric Gonzales, on her plans to build a funeral home, Rabiya said: "Supportive naman si Jeric. But you know, sa aming dalawa, ako ang dreamer and siya naman ang practical side. So along the we discuss about it."
