Foreign kidnap victim rescued in Laguna

CALAMBA CITY, Laguna – Police rescued a foreign kidnap victim in a subdivision in Barangay Punta here on Monday night, July 22.

Investigation said the victim, Li, escaped from her kidnapper, Hu, and sought help from the duty security guard, Jovan Castillo.

Castillo failed to understand Li who spoke Chinese.

He used the Google translate app and found out that Li was seeking help as she was kidnapped and held in the subdivision.

Castillo informed the police who arrested the suspect in a follow-up operation in Barangay Punta.

The suspect was positively identified by the victim.

Police hired a translator to facilitate communication with the victim.

Hu faces serious illegal detention and kidnapping cases.
