'Carina' shuts down portions of 2 national roads in Western Mindanao -- DPWH


At least two national roads in Western Mindanao were rendered impassable after super typhoon "Carina" unleashed heavy rains in the area, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said on Tuesday, July 23.

In a travel advisory, the DPWH said the affected roads were on the Zamboanga Peninsula.

"These roads were temporarily closed to traffic due to the typhoon," the advisory read.

Citing its monitoring on the ground, the DPWH said the Zamboanga City Bypass Road, 1980+211 section, was closed due to a landslide, while the Jct. Aurora-Ozamis City Road, K1632+900 – K1633+000, in Barangay Inasagan, Zamboanga del Sur, due to soil collapse.

"The DPWH Zamboanga City District Engineering Office Quick Response Team has installed warning signs and barricades and has commenced clearing operations on the affected road section," the advisory read.
