Sandro Marcos on PBBM deepfake video: 'Pathetic, but expected'

House Senior Deputy Majority Leader Ilocos Norte 1st district Rep. Sandro Marcos says he is no longer surprised by the dissemination of an artificial intelligence (AI)-generated deepfake video on his father, President Marcos.

But Rep. Marcos still chose a strong word for the video, calling it "pathetic".

"It's nothing but a pathetic attempt to destabilize the administration of the President. we should really come to expect that from them at this point," he told reporters during a chance interview a couple of hour before President Marcos' State of the Nation Address (SONA) Monday, July 22.

The fabricated video falsely depicts the President using illegal substances. It went viral on social media Monday.

"it's not worth dignifying," the presidential son further said of the disparaging video.

Asked to comment on the timing of the release of the disparaging video, Rep. Marcos said, "I think its a little obvious."
