House Speaker Martin Romualdez has reason to believe that his cousin, President Marcos, is making some last-minute revisions to his State of the Nation Address (SONA).

In an interview with reporters on Saturday, July 20, Romualdez says that Marcos is a "perfectionist" who wants a "polished" speech.

"Alam ko tapos na niya yung SONA speech niya. Pero perfectionist siya, nire-revise niya sigurado," said Romualdez, leader of the 300-plus strong House of Representatives.

(What I know is that his SONA speech is already finished. But he's a perfectionist, so surely he's revising it.)

"Ina-analyze [niya] lahat ng mga data at marami mga inputs pa siguro pumapasok. Pero alam ko in principle tapos na pero rini-revise niya, pina-polish niya lang yan," he added.

(He's analyzes all of the data and probably there are more inputs coming in. I know it's finished in principle but he's revising it, he's polishing it.)

Asked if he thinks the Chief Executive has practiced his speech before a family member, Romualdez answered: "Wala akong details dyan pero (I don't have any details on that but) I'm sure it will be an excellent one."

Marcos is set to deliver his third SONA on Monday, July 22 at Batasang Pambansa Complex in Quezon City.

"Actually we are very excited to listen to the SONA," admitted Romualdez.

"I'm sure the President will have other legislative agenda and I'm sure follow-up yan sa lahat ng mga (he will follow up on the various) social ameliorstion projects, programs, anything to help the needy Filipinos, and of course all the other developmental programs that we'll be following through," he said.
