LTO's hotline bogs down over thousands of requests to get plastic driver's license

The hotline of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) has bogged down after more than 9,000 motorists tapped its Viber platform to avail of the fast transactions in getting their plastic-printed driver’s license.

LTO chief, Assistant Secretary Vigor D. Mendoza II said they have already started coordinating with Viber Philippines in order to restore its access to the AksyOn the Spot hotline number 09292920865.

“On behalf of the LTO, I sincerely apologized for this incident. Be rest assured that we will continuously work on this to restore our access and eventually facilitate the printing of a plastic driver’s license of our kababayan,” said Mendoza.

LTO IT personnel lost the access of the AksyOn the Spot hotline  after it was flooded with inquiries and requests for printing of driver’s license. As of July 18, the number of requests and inquiries already reached more than 9,000.

Mendoza earlier tapped the hotline as a platform for around five percent of motorists who are yet to get their plastic-printed driver’s license.

Based on the LTO Chief’s instruction, motorists could send the photograph or scanned copy of the paper-printed driver’s license through the hotline’s Viber platform.

Those who requested the printing via the hotline are given the option to either pick up at the LTO Central Office in Quezon City or send the plastic driver’s license through the courier service.

Mendoza said that some of the driver’s licenses of those who tapped the AksyOn the Spot hotline 09292920865 were already processed and are just awaiting for confirmation on whether or not they would be sent to the owners via the accredited courier service of the LTO.

Mendoza earlier said that the backlog on plastic driver’s licenses has long been addressed.

“We assure all our clients that all the efforts are now being done to restore our access to the Viber platform of our hotline so that we can process all the requests for plastic driver’s license in the soonest possible time,” said Mendoza.
