The Las Piñas City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) conducted the Inter-Barangay First Aid Olympics in line with the observance of the National Disaster Resilience Month.
According to Vice-Mayor April Aguilar, the activity held at the Las Piñas Elementary School Central Multipurpose Hall aimed to determine the preparedness of the city’s Barangay Emergency Response Team (BERTS) during disaster or calamities.
Aguilar was joined by DRRMO officer-in-charge Alejandro dela Merced during the competition.
She said members of BERTS showcased their skills in various first aid categories, emphasizing correct patient management during the competition.
The vice-mayor said the annual competition pays tribute to the dedication of emergency responders, acknowledging them as essential partners in ensuring the city’s safety and preparedness for any disaster and calamity.
Aguilar said the competition featured activities such as CPR, bandaging technique, transfer technique, situational analysis, and patient extrication.
She also said the event highlighted the continuous commitment of Las Piñas City to promoting a culture of disaster readiness and resilience among its residents.
The vice-mayor said Barangays Pulanglupa Dos won as the champion in the competition, while Pulanlupa Uno was first runner–up and Talong Uno was second runner-up.
She said special awards were also given to the following: Talon Singko (Best in CPR), Talon Uno (Best in Bandaging Technique), Pulanglupa Uno (Best in Transfer Technique and Best in Situational Analysis), Manuyo Dos and Pulanglupa Dos (Best in Patient Extrication), BF International/CAA (Best in Uniform), and Barangay Pamplona Tres (Most Organized Team).
