With both teams tied at 1-all, the Nationals turned it up and left the Kiwis in the dust after a searing run in the sixth inning to take their first win in Pool A of the competition that is being participated by 12 countries.

ASAPHIL President Jean Henri Lhuillier was elated with the victory.

"I have always believed in the capability of our team. Their performance today is a result of their hard work and earnest attitude,” Lhuillier said.

“I am confident they can continue this momentum and bring home the championship," he added.

Up next for the Ana Santiago-mentored team is Hong Kong then host Canada on Wednesday, July 3 (Manila time).
