Cops net P10-M shabu, marijuana in Cordillera


CAMP DANGWA, Benguet – Shabu and marijuana worth over P10 million were seized and 13 suspected drug pushers were caught in the Cordillera region from July 12 to 18.

PRO-Cordillera chief Police Brig. Gen. David Peredo Jr. said 32 operations were conducted in Abra, Apayao, Baguio City, Benguet, Ifugao, and Kalinga.

Peredo said these anti-illegal drug operations resulted in the confiscation of 42,575 fully grown marijuana plants, 1,650 marijuana seedlings, 11,000 grams of dried marijuana leaves and fruiting tops, and 21.12 grams of shabu worth a total of P10,044,668.36.

The largest haul was recorded in Kalinga where illegal drugs valued at P6.9 million were recovered and two  drug pushers tagged as street-level individuals were apprehended in marijuana eradication, two buy-busts, and one checkpoint  operations.

In Benguet, four drug pushers were arrested  and illegal drugs worth P2.9 million were seized. In Ifugao, marijuana plants valued at P58,000 were destroyed.

In Baguio, three drug pushers were arrested and shabu worth P40,308.36 was seized.

In Apayao, two high-value individuals were caught through warrants of arrest and two high-value individuals in Abra were also arrested. Shabu with a combined value of P29,998 was seized from the suspects.
