Bacolod police chief Aliño relieved


BACOLOD CITY – Police Col. Noel Aliño was relieved as Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) chief on Friday, July 19, more than a year after he was assigned to this city.

Police Brig. Gen. Jack Wanky, Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 (Western Visayas) head, confirmed Aliño’s relief in a text message.

Wanky said that Police Col. Ritchie Cruzero, deputy city director for administration of the BCPO, was named officer-in-charge (OIC) pending the appointment of a new police chief.

Cruzero will serve until after the State-of-the-Nation Address (SONA) on Monday, July 22, according to Wanky. 

He did not elaborate further as deliberations for the next BCPO director will be conducted. 

Wanky said that Aliño was reassigned to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).

He said that Aliño’s relief was due to career advancement.

Aliño assumed office on April 18, 2023, succeeding Police Col. Thomas Joseph Martir.  

Mayor Albee Benitez here said that Aliño’s transfer is part of the PNP’s promotion process. 

“We will wait for the official announcement from the office of the regional director regarding who will replace Aliño,” he added.

Benitez thanked Aliño for his dedicated service and contributions to the safety and security of this city. 

“He had done a commendable job during the duration of his stay here in the City of Smiles,” Benitez said.

Benitez is looking forward to working closely with the new city police director to continue ensuring the welfare and protection of every Bacolodnon and maintain the utmost peace and order and security here.
