SINAIT, Ilocos Sur – A 56-year-old farmer was fatally shot by his nephew during a heated altercation in Barangay Jordan here on Thursday afternoon, July 18.
Police identified the victim as Amado I. Yoro.
Investigation said Yoro and suspect, Jual B. Yoro, 38, engaged in a fist fight after Jual pacified his child and the victim’s grandchild who had a misunderstanding while they were playing.
Yoro obtained a bolo inside his house and Jual took a caliber .38 revolver. Jual shot the victim in the neck.
The victim was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead. Jual surrendered and turned over his gun to the police.
The suspect is under police custody.
Meanwhile, a 33-year-old construction worker was stabbed to death by his drinking buddy in Barangay Batangan, Gonzaga, Cagayan on Wednesday, July 17.
Police Master Sgt. Darwin Ponce, Gonzaga police investigator, identified the victim as John, of Barangay Centro, Baggao, Cagayan.
Investigation disclosed that the suspect, Jake 22, of Barangay Villa, Santa Teresita, Cagayan, was irked when the victim had a heated altercation with his girlfriend during a video call while they were having a drinking session with the suspect's father.
Police said the suspect and the victim engaged in a fistfight. Jake overpowered the victim and the suspect stabbed John to death as they fell to the ground.
The suspect escaped and being hunted by the police.
