BIR strikes vending machine selling illicit vapes

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) seized a vending machine openly selling illegal vape products near popular hangout spots for youth.

In a Facebook post by BIR Commissioner Romeo D. Lumagui Jr., he said the vending machine in a public building housing several businesses was found to sell illegal Flava vape products.

“We confiscated a vending machine that openly contained illegal Flava vapes,” Lumagui said.

The BIR chief expressed concern over the vending machine's proximity to a gym, dance studio, gymnastics studio, basketball court, cafe, bakery, laundry station, water station, and restaurant.

“This is worrying because young people can easily buy vape from this vending machine,” Lumagui said.

The BIR chief reiterated their commitment to combat the distribution of illegal vape products, stating that selling such products, whether through vending machines or online stores, is against the law.

Lumagui said the BIR will continue to conduct raids and confiscate any illicit vape products.

Lumagui encouraged the public to report any information regarding illicit vape products, assuring that all leads will be thoroughly investigated.
