Magnitude 5.0 quake hits Davao Occidental — Phivolcs


The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) on Sunday, July 14 recorded a 5.0-magnitude quake that struck Davao Occidental.

Based on Phivolcs’ data, the earthquake struck at 12:12 a.m., with an epicenter 134 kilometers (km) southeast of Sarangani, Davao Occidental.

It noted that the quake, tectonic in origin, was due to the sudden movement of the earth’s crust and had a depth of focus of 10 km.

However, Phivolcs expected "aftershock” but “no damages” due to this earthquake.
