The 6-foot-9 center took to social media to clarify that he was initially committed to finishing his contract with Ginebra before he got shipped to Terrafirma alongside Stanley Pringle for Isaac Go and Stephen Holt along with a first-round swap pick in the Season 49 draft.

“For Christian, he had stated to us a conference ago that he would prefer to play in a different system and under a different coach,” revealed Cone.

Standhardinger did admit that he was open to getting traded a year ago although has since then changed his mind after playing with the Kings the past season. He said he even expressed his desire to stay with the team during his exit interview with Cone.

“Just to clarify, a year ago, I was open to being traded due to some dissatisfaction. However, after playing the whole season, I was keen on staying with Ginebra,” said Standhardinger.

“Recently, during my exit meeting, Coach Tim asked me if I was good to continue playing for him and the team. I said yes, and he expressed his happiness to have me on board,” he added.

Standhardinger stressed that he did not ask to be traded nor agreed to part ways with Ginebra but nonetheless is respecting the decision of the franchise.

“Coach Tim called me and communicated his decision to trade me for younger players. I want to emphasize that I had nothing to do with this decision as I was committed to finishing my contract with Ginebra,” said Standhardinger.

“Again, I respect the decision and understand the business side of sports. I just want to clarify that I did not leave you guys,” he added.

In an earlier post, Standhardinger thanked Ginebra, its players and staff as well as its legion of fans, for supporting him throughout his stint with the team.

“[I] wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for the incredible support and love you've shown me throughout my time with Barangay Ginebra. Being part of this team has been a truly unforgettable journey, and I'm grateful for every cheer, every chant, and every moment of encouragement,” wrote Standhardinger

“To the fans, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your unwavering support has meant the world to me, and it has been an honor to play for you and represent the Ginebra colors,” he added.
