In a Veritas PH post Saturday, July 13, Camillian Philippines Provincial Vicar, Fr. Dan Cancino, encouraged those who are suffering from health problems to be inspired by the example of St. Camillus and to remain hopeful.

The priest likewise called for prayers for all health care workers and families looking after their sick loved ones.

“As we pray for the intercession of St. Camillus, may healing come upon those who are suffering. May the Lord bless the sick with healing and relief as well as every Filipino family, “ said Fr. Cancino over Radio Veritas.

Born on May 25, 1550 in Naples, Italy, St. Camillus established the Ministers of the Infirm, also known as Camillians, in 1582 with the mission of caring for the sick.

The revered saint died on July 14, 1614 at the age of 64 and was canonized by Pope Benedict XIV in 1746. St. Camillus is venerated in many countries as the patron saint of hospitals, health care workers and the sick.

Meanwhile, holy masses in observance of the feast of St. Camillus will be celebrated at the Radio Veritas Chapel in Quezon City on July 14 at 6 a.m. to be officiated by Lung Center of the Philippines Chaplain, Fr. Almar Roman, at 12 noon to be presided over by St. Camillus Medical Center Chaplain, Fr. Eliseo Navarro, and at 6 p.m. to be officiated by St. Camillus Center for Humanization in Health executive director, Fr. Placido de Jose.
