New Pateros councilor appointed

A new councilor was appointed in the Municipality of Pateros in the National Capital Region after an incumbent won in the barangay elections.

Ernesto “Totong” Cortez has been appointed as the new councilor of the 12th Sangguniang Bayan of Pateros.

“Congratulations Councilor Ernesto Chay Cortez and welcome back to our Sangguniang Bayan,” the Pateros municipal government posted on Facebook on June 7.

Cortez ran for reelection as councilor but lost in the May 9, 2022 elections, placing seventh in the tally in the second district.

He replaced Councilor Joven Gatpayat, who won in the 2022 elections. Councilor Gatpayat ran and won as barangay captain of Barangay Aguho in the Oct. 30, 2023 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE) in Pateros.
