Lea Salonga to get wax figure in Madame Tussauds Singapore

Tony winner and Broadway star Lea Salonga is the latest Filipino celebrity to have her wax figure.

Lea's wax figure will be displayed at Madame Tussauds in Singapore.

The announcement was posted on Madame Tussauds Singapore's official Facebook account on June 6.

"Shining, Shimmering, Splendid! The legendary Lea Salonga will have her very own wax figure in #MadameTussuadsSG! Are you as excited as we are?" the caption wrote.

In the video, Lea can be seen meeting with the team, getting her accurate measurements, and posing for the wax figure.

"It’s an absolute honor and a privilege. It’s fantastic,” Lea said.

To her supporters, the OPM icon said, “Hi everybody. I’m super excited to be joining Madame Tussauds with my very own wax figure. Are you ready?”

Lea Salonga is famous for her portrayal of Kim in the musical Miss Saigon. She is the first Filipino to win both a Tony Award and a Laurence Olivier Award for her performance.

In 2023, she starred in the all-Filipino cast of the Broadway musical “Here Lies Love” as Aurora Aquino, the mother of former senator Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino.

The musical has earned four Tony Award nominations, including Best Choreography, Best Sound, Best Original Score (Music and Lyrics) Written for the Theater, and Best Scenic Design of a Musical.

In addition to her theater stint, Lea was also known as the singing voice of Disney princess Jasmine in Aladdin and Mulan.
