Emily Ratajkowski on living a multifaceted life and the power of clothing

American actress and model becomes the face of this local fashion brand Patton

Lifestyle wear brand Patton ushers a new chapter this June with international supermodel and actress Emily Ratajkowski as its newest face. The Hollywood celebrity stars in the latest brand campaign, shot by photographer Tom Newton in New York.

Emily, clad in Patton’s best-selling “one-and-done” inspired looks, is simply stunning in the images, embodying the brand’s core effortless style for the modern on-the-go.

“The clothes are perfect for those who are easygoing, value their time, and remain committed to building a wardrobe consisting of functional pieces befitting dynamic lifestyles,” the brand says. “Patton is a fit for those who feel liberated and confident wearing minimalist, well-made, and tasteful garments.”

Apart from being a model and actress, Emily is also known as an entrepreneur, activist, and a global social media phenomenon. She has graced the cover of the major international magazines and appeared in numerous films such as David Fincher’s “Gone Girl” and Amy Schumer’s “I Feel Pretty.” Soon, she will be seen in Lena Dunham’s Netflix romantic comedy series “Too Much.”

Emily is also an accomplished writer. Her debut essay collection “My Body” published by Metropolitan Books became an instant New York Times Best Seller upon its release in 2021. Prior to the book’s release, Ratajkowski’s New York Magazine essay “Buying Myself Back” garnered over a million views within 24 hours and became the magazine’s most-read piece of the year.

In an interview with Patton, Emily gives us a glimpse of her multifaceted life and shares tips on facing challenges with the right mindset and good style.

What’s a daily habit you can recommend to other people?

Daily habit is taking some time for yourself, not on your phone. Just stare at a wall or do something meditative. I think it's really important to have at least 10 minutes to yourself where you’re not on your phone and you’re just doing something meditative and zoning out.

How does fashion/clothing affect the way you feel?

The way I get dressed in the morning can make a huge difference in the kind of role that I will be playing that day and who I want to be. I feel like living in New York City, everything that I wear just feels like I'm putting out the kind of person that I want to be and manifesting it through the way I get dressed. So, fashion is a huge part of my lifestyle and playing the different roles that I do.

When do you feel most comfortable, strongest, and the most confident?

There are a lot of different ways I feel comfortable. Sometimes it's when I'm really dressed up, sometimes when I'm in my sweatpants and my hair is tied up and I have no makeup on. It just really depends on my environment and who I am that day and what I'm doing. I feel the strongest at the end of the day when I’ve been a mom, when I’ve been working on set, when I’ve done some writing and I feel like I’ve just really built out my life and I'm like “this is my life” and feel good about myself. I think the most confident goes with both of those, comfortable and strong.

Why is it important to be versatile in today’s world?

I think women and representing people have always been very versatile. I think that when you’re being a mom and you have that role you’re versatile just in that role alone but I think that having a career and being an independent person who has my friendships and relationships, I think it's just a really great way to be happy and find balance in all the things you do.

Being a mom throughout history has made women have to be very versatile. I think that now I have a career, I also have my personal relationships and the life I've built for myself in New York City and around the world, the relationships that I have and I think having that kind of balance with all of it is very important.

Balancing multiple roles can be challenging. How do you simplify your multifaceted life?

I don't have answers on how to simplify, I'm still trying to figure it out. I really try to pay attention to what's important to me and what I'm valuing in a given day, so if I have the ability to spend a lot of time with my son recently I feel a little bit okay taking some time for myself to write or to work so it's just a day-to-day balancing act.

How does wearing Patton make you feel? Which look is your favorite and why?

Wearing Patton makes me feel amazing. I think it's so versatile, I think that it’s sexy but it's comfortable and it works for all these kinds of moments in my life. I think my favorite look might be the one I'm wearing just because I could wear it on a plane, I could wear it out to dinner and I think that it really speaks for the whole collection.
