Former Ateneo Blue Eagles Geo Chiu is joining the increasing number of Filipino imports in Japan B.League after signing with B2 team Ehime Orange Vikings.
The 23-year-old big man will be playing in the 2024-25 season following his stint with the Strong Group-Philippines in the upcoming 43rd William Jones Cup.
Chiu decided not to exhaust his playing year in the UAAP and initially went pro with the Taiwan Mustangs late in the 2024 Asian Tournament.
Additionally, Chiu joined the Mustangs in their tuneup match last week against Gilas Pilipinas ahead of the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
Other Filipino imports who entered free agency at the conclusion of the recent season have started to find new homes in Japan to extend their stay overseas.
Meanwhile, Chiu’s former Ateneo teammates Kai Ballungay, Jared Brown and Jason Credo had also decided to pursue the pro ranks at the end of Season 86 that saw the Blue Eagles suffer a Final Four exit.
