Zelenskyy said this as he concluded his short, unannounced visit to the Philippines on Monday, June 3.

In an interview with GMA Integrated News and covered by Radio Television Malacañang (RTVM), the Ukrainian leader said he went straight to the Philippines from Singapore to personally invite Marcos to attend the Summit.

"He said that the Philippines will support the summit. I said for us it is important for us [for] him to come. He said he will come and he will participate in the Summit. This [is a] great strong signal," he said.

Zelenskyy added that Marcos' attendance at the summit is important, and thanked the Philippines for supporting Ukraine since the war started in February 2022.

"Your voice is very important. This region is very important," he said.

"We're thankful to the Philippines when you supported us in the United Nations (UN) with the six votings, with the six resolutions. It is [a] signal that you don't want any war, that you are a very peaceful country," he added.

According to Zelenskyy, there will be three important issues to be tackled in the Swiss-organized summit.

"The first one will be food security, I think it's also very important in our bilateral relations between us and the Philippines. Nuclear security, that's important for all the world, I think so," he said.

"The third one, [the] humanitarian one, where we count on your support— how to get back our Ukrainian stolen children that Russia has stolen— 20,000 of our children from occupied territories," he added.

"We need to get them back and we need to find the mechanism of getting back children. It's a pity but we have to bring them home," he continued.
