The country’s most famous beach destination in Malay town, Aklan province was included in the list of the Best Islands in Asia Pacific category in the Travel + Leisure Luxury Awards Asia Pacific 2024.

Boracay was also in the list last year but was one rank lower at fifth. On the other hand, Palawan was ranked third.

The island of Koh Samui in Thailand was this year’s best island in the Asia-Pacific.  Bali in Indonesia was second.

The inclusion of Boracay in the list of the 2024 Travel + Leisure Luxury Awards Asia Pacific was its second laurel for this month. Boracay was in the list of the 2024 DestinAsian Readers’ Choice Award at fifth.

Malay Mayor Frolibar Bautista said that their inclusion in international rankings manifested that they were able to bounce back from the impact of the closure and the pandemic.

Bautista said that they are expecting more tourists to come to Boracay this year. In 2023, a total of 2.1 million foreign and domestic tourists visited Boracay.
