A teenage couple in Sampaloc, Manila were accused of illegally aborting their baby.
The Manila Police District (MPD) said the incident was reported by a public hospital administration at 2 a.m. on Wednesday, June 26.
According to the police report, the couple, both 17 years old, had been concealing the pregnancy from their parents.
The attending physician told the police that the teen mother tested positive for Cytotec and had underwent postpartum curettage in the operating room.
Police said the mother is still admitted in the hospital for recovery.
They added that they are conducting investigation to determine the charges to be filed against the suspects.
On the same day, two waterway cleaners found a fetus placed inside a jar in a creek in Tondo, Manila.
Authorities reminded the public that abortion is illegal and charges will be filed against anyone who violates the law.
