The Philippine National Police (PNP) arrested a drug suspect and confiscated P1.36 million worth of suspected “shabu” in a buy-bust operation in Camarines Sur before dawn on Monday, June 24.

A report from the PNP’s Drug Enforcement Group (DEG) identified the suspect as Antonio Salamanque, 53.

Police Brig. Gen. Eleazar P. Matta, director of PNP-DEG, said operatives of the DEG’s Special Operations Unit 5 and local police officials in Libmanan town managed to organize a deal with Salamanque around 2:50 a.m.

A poseur-buyer confirmed the purchase of illegal drugs from the suspect, prompting back-up cops to reveal themselves and swoop down on him.

During the arrest, authorities seized around 200 grams of shabu from Salamanque with an estimated street value of P1.36 million, Matta said.

Salamanque was brought to Libmanan municipal police station for documentation and proper disposition.

Meanwhile, the seized illegal drugs were turned over to the forensic unit at Camp Simeon Ola, the headquarters of the Bicol Police Regional Office (PRO-5), for laboratory examination.
