The summer-themed sound and lyrics, combined with the energetic voices of the six members (Shinyu, Dohoon, Youngjae, Hanjin, Jihoon and Kyungmin) make listeners’ hearts race.

“The success of our first EP became the driving force as we prepared ‘Summer Beat,’ and instead of thinking about being pressured, we thought of it as a good-intentioned responsibility,” said Youngjae at the group’s media showcase for the album on June 24, the Korea JoongAng Daily  reported.

The album’s main track “If I’m S, Can You Be My N?” captures the essence of TWS’ brilliant summer and at the present moment. The hybrid pop song blends elements of funky rhythms with vivid synth sounds.

It uses the analogy of a magnet’s south and north poles to express excitement of realizing the reason why opposites attract. It naturally portrays the process of two different people gradually becoming one through relatable musical storytelling. The catchy melody highlights TWS’ refreshing and youthful voices.

According to Kyungmin, “The title of our lead track is a reference to how one’s relationship can be like the two opposite ends of a magnet. We are opposites, but we might end up finding out why we are so attracted to each other.”

Shinyu said, “I liked the melodies from the first time I listened to the lead track, but it’s the lyrics that really got me. There’s a part of the lyrics that goes, ‘You and I, 10 meters apart,’ which refers to the distance between the first and the third floors of a school building. So, I encourage you to look closely at the lyrics.”

The song’s music video enhances the emotion and atmosphere of the lead single with TWS' unique aesthetics.

Set against familiar backdrops such as school and track field, the members of TWS set high goals and work hard to achieve them. Although they are passionately chasing different dreams, their heartfelt support for each other remains unwavering, ultimately telling the story of individuals gradually becoming one through their care for each other.

TWS' second mini-album “Summer Beat!” is now available on online streaming platforms.
