Cop shoots self while cleaning gun

GENERAL LUNA, Quezon – A policeman accidentally shot himself while cleaning his service firearm in his barracks in this town on Tuesday, June 18.

Police identified the victim as Police Staff Sgt. Christian Dior Astoveza, a resident of Barangay Bacong Ilaya here.

Police Patrolman Ejay Loretizo found the body of the victim. A cleaning kit was found near the victim’s body.

Loretizo said he last saw Astoveza cleaning his service firearm.

Police are conducting further investigation.
