The Juans, a pop band, and Alamat, a P-pop group, use their music to address social issues and promote empowerment, resilience, and unity. Their songs and campaigns frequently emphasize themes such as self-love, mental health awareness, and national pride, elevating Pop and P-pop beyond mere music genres.

Recently, The Juans and Alamat released a poignant heartbreak song titled "Gupit" on June 14, 2024. This song delves into the difficulties of moving on and the courage required to overcome them.

"It's a heartbreak song from a different angle. This new song shows how people say 'This is the new me' but often use it to hide their real feelings," Chael says.

Being a pop band and P-pop idol is not an easy feat, both physically and mentally. Manila Bulletin Lifestyle asked The Juans and Alamat what motivates them to keep going when things get hard.

“Life really happens for you. So, whether something is bad or good, or how you perceive the situation—it happens for you for a reason. So, either there’s a lesson from it or there’s something good in it. And at the end of the day, it was given to you for a reason. So, looking at it from an appreciation perspective is really something that motivates us to keep going and view it as a process,” Taneo shares.

At the press conference, Carl Guevarra shared three tips with Manila Bulletin Lifestyle for aspiring individuals looking to enter the music industry.

1. If we were able to do it, you can do it too. If you have talents, opportunities, or whatever you have, use them. Because we believe that everyone has dreams, and with perseverance, you can achieve something in life.

2. Perseverance. Because we live in a generation where everything is instant, right? You might do something on TikTok today, and tomorrow you're famous. And we don’t want to undermine the value of hard work. Because it took many days of hard work to get to where we are.

3. Don't be afraid. Sometimes things are difficult because it’s the difficult things that will make you stronger. So just because it’s difficult doesn’t mean it’s wrong. Just because there’s friction, challenges, doesn’t mean it’s wrong. Sometimes the difficulty is a sign that what you’re doing is right. Don’t be nervous or afraid of challenges. Because sometimes challenges indicate that you’re on the right path.
