MECO: Taiwan firms to hold job fair in Isabela for 2,000 job vacancies

Taiwan has opened more than 2,000 jobs which could be taken advantage of by Filipino workers, the Manila Economic and Cultural Office said on Sunday, June 2.

MECO chairman Silvestre H. Bello III said the job vacancies will be showcased in a special one-day Job Fair and Career Expo which will be held in Isabela on June 7.

This is an initial job matching event by Taiwanese companies in the Philippines which will be replicated in other centers of the country. And we intend to have a Metro Manila wide fair for Taiwan jobs probably before the end of the year,” Bello said.

Around 12 Taiwanese employers, recruitment agencies and universities will fly to Ilagan City to screen and interview prospective applicants for positions in various factories. Also available are jobs for caregivers, and scholarship slots for students.

Among the participating employers include I-Mei Foods, one of Taiwan’s leading food processing and manufacturing companies and SHPT Caretakers.

“All participating agencies and employers will be in Isabela for the job fair. The two companies will conduct the interviews and assessment of applicants online,” said Bello.

He said Interested applicants are required to pre-register in the registration portal of the Department of Migrant Workers and indicate the company where they wish to apply. In the portal, posted are the requirements and the qualifications for the available jobs.

Participating agencies will conduct a pre-screening of applicants prior to the actual job fair.

For the career expo, at least three universities will offer scholarships to students who will qualify on June 7. The schools are the Mingshin University of Science and Technology, Taipei University of Science and Technology and Kunshan University.
