Marcos approved the two new laws—Republic Act Nos. 12007 and 12008—on June 13, 2024.

Republic Act No. 12007 establishes the “Progressive Senior High School” in Progressive Village 3, Barangay Bayanan while RA No. 12008 creates the “Progressive Elementary School” in Barangay Molino 2.

Both schools are located in Bacoor City.

According to Malacañang, the schools will be under the supervision of the Department of Education (DepEd).

Vice President Sara Duterte, who heads DepEd, is ordered to immediately include in the department’s program the operationalization of the senior high and elementary schools.

Duterte is also ordered to formulate the implementing rules and regulations (IRR) of the two newly signed laws within 90 days from its approval.

The IRR shall provide the school’s organization, administration, operations and management, in accordance with the Governance of Basic Education Act of 2001, the Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013, and other basic education-related laws.

The laws will take effect 15 days after its publication in the Official Gazette, or in a newspaper of general circulation.
