P6.8-M shabu seized in Leyte drug sting


TACLOBAN CITY – Suspected shabu valued at P6.8 million was seized in a buy-bust operation on Tuesday, June 18, in Barangay Cabalquinte, Calubian, Leyte.

Four suspected drug pushers were apprehended. They were identified as Fritz, 28; Hailey, 42; Gin, 41, and Noel, residents of the barangay. 

However, their companion.  Chic, 42, a resident of Calubian and identified as a high-value individual in the illegal drugs trade, managed to elude arrest.

Seized from the suspects were a block of transparent plastic containing shabu wrapped in green plastic with Chinese characters weighing one kilogram with a street value of P6.8 million, drug paraphernalia, a short firearm, and non-drug evidence.

The suspects face charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, as amended by RA 10640, and Republic Act 10591 for illegal possession of firearms.
