"I will work with them. Kung may mga agam-agam, I will listen. Bahagi ‘yan ng ating lipunan, ng ating demokrasya, ng paghahayag (If there are doubts, I will listen. That is part of our society, of our democracy, of expression)," Nebrida said in an interview after his took his oath of office.

"And it's ironic if I will not, as head of the national broadcasting network, not to allow people to air their grievances, legitimate or otherwise," he added.

The new PTV head took his oath of office before Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Cheloy Garafil on Tuesday, June 18.

The PTV Employees Association (PTEA) has appealed to Malacañang to recall its decision to replace Analisa Puod.

Under his leadership, Nebrida said he intends to improve the employees' capabilities, build up their skills so that they can fulfill their mandate and to be better prepared to address the challenges of their jobs.

"I understand an ongoing reorganization has already started. We intend to pursue that organization," he said.

He also bared his goal to take a look at the current lineup of programs, saying "we intend to continue what is already ongoing, and hopefully we can make it better."

He stressed that the objective is to make the programming of the station more responsive to the mandate of being the people's network.

He will also look into the improvement of the network's technical capabilities.

"That's basically the hardware and the infrastructure that we currently have, and if there is a need to upgrade that, then we will certainly find ways to do so," he said.

"And we hope to be able to engage our partners in the executive, in the legislative, and our other stakeholders so that we can fulfill the mandate that was given to us," he added.
