Actor Daniel Radcliffe, best known for his iconic role as Harry Potter, won the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical for his performance in "Merrily We Roll Along" during the 77th Tony Awards held at the David H. Koch Theater in New York City last Saturday.

Being overwhelmed with his win, Daniel tried not to cry before delivering his speech. "I’m gonna just talk fast and try not to cry. This has been one of the best experiences of my life. It’s been unbelievable."

As he continued, Daniel gave his warmest thanks to his co-actors, Jonathan Groff and Lindsay Mendez.

"Thank you so much to our cast, everybody on that stage. It is an honor to be on that stage with you every single night. I will miss it so much…speaking of missing things — Jonathan [Groff], Lindsay [Mendez], I will miss you so much," he added.

In the musical, Daniel plays the role of lyricist and playwright Charles Kringas in the revival of Stephen Sondheim and George Furth’s 1981 musical. He also thanked his parents for supporting him with his acting career.

"My mum and dad are here somewhere — happy Father’s Day, dad, I love you both so much," he added.

After saying goodbye to his long-decade character of Harry Potter in 2011, Daniel found his new success after winning his first Emmy Award in 2023 after the portrayal of Weird Al Yankovic in Weird: The Al Yankovic Story.

Daniel told The Hollywood Reporter that he wasn't expecting his acting career to continue after he ended his Harry Potter stint.

"When I finished Potter, I had no idea what my career was going to be. I’d already started doing some stage stuff, but I didn’t know what the future held at all. So, to have had the last year of playing Weird Al and also doing Merrily We Roll Along, I do think there was some… playing one character for a long time builds up in you a desire to do as many things as you possibly can. So yeah, I’m doing that right now," Harry said.
