Long weekend ahead! Marcos declares June 24 as special non-working day in Manila


Another long weekend for those studying and working in the city of Manila.

This after President Marcos declared June 24 as a special non-working day in the city of Manila for the city's celebration of its 453rd founding anniversary.

Through Proclamation No. 599, Marcos made the declaration and said, "it is but fitting and proper that the people of the City of Manila be given full opportunity to participate in the occasion and enjoy the celebration."

Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin signed the proclamation by authority of the President on June 19.

June 24 falls on a Monday, giving another long weekend for students and workers in the city.

The week prior was also a long weekend nationwide for the observance of Eid'l Adha or Feast of Sacrifice on June 17, which also fell on a Monday.
