Tracksters Bejoy, Ramirez bag golds in Thai meet

Bejoy, a four-time national champion, clocked 2 minutes and 13.31 seconds to rule the women’s 800 meters against closest pursuers and hometown bets Ruedee Netthai (2:17.30) and Chanapa Boonitsarasaree (2:18.24).

Ramirez, meanwhile, who is fresh from leading Jose Rizal University to a three-peat title in the NCAA last week, resumed his dominance with a golden performance in the men’s 400m.

The PH team actually posted a 1-2 finish with Ramirez, a Southeast Asian Games gold medalist, triumphing with a time of 46.58sec and teammate Michael Del Prado collecting the silver with 46.82sec.

Indonesia’s Muhammad Ramdhan Fitriadi bagged the bronze with 47.43sec.

Meanwhile, Hussein Loraña settled for the bronze medal in the men’s 800m after clocking 1:54.57, finishing behind eventual gold medalist Li An-Yi of Chinese Taipei (1:54.08) and Sam Van Doi of Vietnam (1:54.07).

Sarah Dequinan also captured the bronze medal in women’s long jump after leaping 5.81m behind Thai gold medalist Supawat Choothong (5.93m) and silver winner Tia Louis Rozario of Singapore (5.86m).

At the 2024 Malaysia Open Athletics Championships, Harry Diones and Rone Malipay bagged the silver and bronze in men’s triple jump behind eventual champion and hometown bet Andre Anura.

Diones leapt 15.23m while Malipay registered 15.14 against Anura’s golden feat of 15.54m.
