Gilas Women currently tote a 1-1 win-loss record.

Clarin, who chipped in seven points, led the Filipinas’ offensive rally after leading as many as 10 points, 14-4, at the 3:25 mark that completely took out the fight from the gritty Mongolians.

Angelica Surada added four points while Elaine Etang and Karl Ann Pingol chipped in three and two points, respectively, for the Nationals, who picked up their first win coming from a one-day rest in the cagefest.

However, the PH cagebelles couldn’t sustain their momentum as they yielded to Japan, 21-14, in their second game.

Tanaka Ufuoma and Miku Takahashi stamped their classes to anchor the Japanese and took a 13-11 breakaway with under four minutes remaining.

As if it was not enough, the Japanese intensified their assault with an 8-3 blitz to send the Filipinas crashing back to earth with a 1-1 win-loss card in Pool B.

Ufuoma topped the scoring department with 10 points while Takahashi registered eight.

Japan also whipped Mongolia, 20-6, in its opening match and set up a daily finals meeting with fellow undefeated China.

Meanwhile, the Gilas Men composed of Noy Remogat, Art Roque, Patrick Sleat and JM Tulabut, absorbed back-to-back losses at the expense of Mongolia (19-21) and Japan (15-21).

The Filipinos squandered an 16-8 lead with 4:21 left in the clock as the Mongolians never looked back.

Dulguun Gankhuyag and Azbayar Altangerel drilled timely hits for the Mongolians as the Nationals remained winless in four days.

Mongolia (2-0) will lock its horns against China (2-0) in the men's finals.
