To those who sacrificed their blood and lives to achieve the prosperity, peace, and freedom we enjoy today, their offering is forever etched in the pages of history. It continues to flow not only in the blood of the people of Kawit but also in the people of Cavite and the entire nation),” Revilla said.

The local government unit (LGU) of Kawit has prepared a set of activities in celebration of Independence Day, including a cultural show, trade fair, music festival, and the opening of a terno exhibition titled “Mga Sáyang Pumilayláy: The Lilith Reyes-Perez Collection.”

In 1898, Gen. Aguinaldo first declared the Philippine Independence in his residence in Kawit, which is now a shrine and a museum.
