Fisherman killed by boat rudder in Quezon


INFANTA, Quezon – A 43-year-old fisherman died after he struck the steel rudder of a boat in the sea of this town on Sunday, June 9.

Police identified the victim as Marcelo, from Barangay Dinahican here.

Investigation said the boat was returning from a week-long fishing venture in the Pacific Ocean east of this province when its rudder locked.

Marcelo dived into the sea to remove the metal lock but his chest hit the rudder.

He sustained a severe injury that caused his death.

The incident was only reported to the Infanta police on Tuesday, June 11, when the boat arrived at the port of Infanta.

The boat left Dinahican Port in Infanta to fish in the Pacific Ocean on June 1.
