In a video clip that circulated online recently, Rondina and some members of the Alas Pilipinas women’s volleyball team appeared during an Independence Day program where the host asked who among the performers in the program they are looking forward to.

Rondina, who has the mic, answered: “SB19 daw po,” then added, “Bhie, Starbucks lang alam ko.”

The video immediately trended online and earned backlash from fans of the P-Pop group, with others even saying the fact that Rondina didn’t know SB19 was unacceptable.

Rondina was quick to apologize during an Instagram live, saying that she never intended to offend anyone with her statement.

Volleyball fans immediately backed up the Choco Mucho spiker, saying there wasn’t any malice in Rondina’s words.

Prior to Rondina’s apology, Pablo, one of the SB19 members released a statement reminding their fans to be sensitive and careful with their comments to people who aren’t aware of their music.

"Respect and acknowledge na hindi lahat ng tao, aware or kilala ang grupo namin. Hindi rin sa lahat ng oras, everyone will hold a favorable opinion of us. THAT'S FINE! There's no reason to spread hate, disrespect or drag down our fellow Filipinos. Lahat tayo may effort na i-angat ang Pinoy,” he said.
