Over 100,000 work opportunities available as DOLE hosts job fairs on Independence Day

More than 100,000 local and overseas work opportunities will be available in the job fairs across the country in celebration of the 126th Anniversary of the declaration of Philippine Independence on June 12, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said on Tuesday, June 11.

DOLE Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma said there would be 106,298 local vacancies and 5,165 overseas spots offered by over 1,000 employers, adding that he expects the number to increase on the job fair day.

"We expect to even surpass the job offers at past job fairs as we encourage more employers to participate in the annual commemoration of Independence Day," he said.

The top vacancies are for production workers and operators, customer service representatives, cashiers, baggers, sales clerks, laborers, carpenters, painters, service crews, cooks, waiters and servers.

Job seekers were advised to be ready with their application requirements, such as a resume or curriculum vitae, diploma, transcript of records, government clearances, and a certificate of employment for those formerly employed.

Those interested in pursuing skills training may visit the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority's advisory and information desks.

A one-stop-shop of government services will also be available for applicants who want to process their pre-employment documents.
