The proud son of Marbel is up for a tough task against 127 competitors who are all eager to claim the £15,000 prize (roughly P947,000) for the champion.

Despite the absence of former world champions Gary Anderson and Rob Cross, the 42-year-old player still needs to produce an electrifying performance to steal the spotlight against top European darters in the tournament.

With pressure on his shoulders, Perez will surely rely on his experience and make use of his opportunity as the first Filipino player to earn a PDC Pro Tour card.

In the same event last year where he reached the Event 13's quarterfinal round, Perez stunned England’s Cross (6-5), Jamie Hughes (6-1), Luke Woodhouse (6-2) and Czech Karel Sedlacek (6-3).

However, England’s Connor Scutt ended his winning ways with a 6-3 win in the quarters.

Perez will also see action in the European Tour Qualifier 9 & 10 on Thursday, June 13, and a trip to Frankfurt for the World Cup of Darts on July 27 to 30.

It can be recalled that Perez and Lourence Ilagan teamed up last year in the said tournament where they advanced to the quarterfinals.
