The coronation night at the FPJ Arena in Batangas on June 30 is approaching, and the 50 Mister International Philippines 2024 candidates are opening up about the reasons behind their quest for the national title.

In intimate interviews with the media, representatives from the National Capital Region, South Luzon, Central Luzon, Northern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao reveal their deepest passions, personal struggles, and the advocacies driving their desire to make a difference.

Brent Jonathan Manalo from Tanauan City, Batangas, was voted as one of the press favorites during the sit-down interview. This 5’10” candidate, who is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Major in Marketing Management, enjoys playing basketball for both mental and physical health benefits.

Regarding his advocacy, he shared: “I aim to raise awareness and support for athletes experiencing sports-related injuries by advocating for increased access to quality medical care, rehabilitation services, and mental health support. I will strive to promote injury prevention, holistic recovery, and the overall well-being of athletes at all levels.”

John Paul Gundayao, representing Tarlac, is a 6’1” freelance talent who finds joy and peace in traveling. He loves discovering new places and people, connecting with them, and exchanging stories.

The 20-year-old candidate revealed his advocacy, stating, “My goal is to establish an online community to encourage the younger generation to value their physical health, to inspire them to exercise with purpose, providing them with everything they need to get in shape and make healthy living a lifetime habit.”

Ronald Costanilla from Cagayan De Oro City shared that he’s committed to making a difference. He finds happiness in simple things like cooking a meal for his family and enjoying quiet moments alone to reflect.

"Representing my beloved City of Golden Friendship in Mister International Philippines 2024 is a huge honor. To prepare mentally, I practice meditation and mindfulness, and adopt habits that build confidence and resilience. Physically, I stick to a rigorous fitness routine with cardio, strength training, and flexibility workouts, and I maintain a healthy diet to stay in top shape. Balancing this with my studies and work is challenging, but with an ever-supportive team, I am fully committed to meeting this challenge."

Erik Gudelano IV, a 5’11” candidate from Rizal Province, is currently working as a part-time model for TV and digital ads. Erik revealed that he and all his brothers share the same name. Reflecting on his life journey, Erik shared that their home is full of sacrifices and struggles, especially in helping their father, a stroke survivor.

“It is a big responsibility to represent the entire Rizal Province, which is why I am striving to be in the best shape possible. I am visiting my clinic for a better body figure, reading books to widen my knowledge, and working out daily to maintain a healthy body,” Erik said about his preparations.

Jake Keanu Aguilar Batiancela, the pride of Leyte, is a registered medical technologist and a newly licensed medical doctor. He believes that being a doctor is more than a profession—it’s a service to humanity.

"As a doctor, the Mister International Philippines title would empower me to advocate for vital health issues, educate the public, and collaborate on impactful healthcare initiatives that align with my passion for service. Participating in the competition would also refine my communication and presentation skills, enhancing my ability to inspire and engage diverse audiences. The MIPH platform would help me fulfill my potential as a distinguished role model, not only for my distinctive handsomeness but also for meaningful contributions to society."

Marlo Martin, a 5’9” candidate from the City of San Jose del Monte, opened up about losing his father at a young age. He faces every challenge with courage and determination and believes that the true beauty of a contestant lies within their presence and their ability to influence those around them.

“A pleasing appearance can be a testament to self-care and a productive lifestyle, but there are also other qualities we must consider. Having pride in our physical state brings confidence on stage, but we must also ensure we present the inner beauty within ourselves,” he expressed.
