G-Dragon becomes visiting professor at KAIST. Here's what he will teach

He is affiliated with the mechanical engineering department


South Korean singer G-Dragon, whose real name is Kwon Jiyong, has become a visiting professor at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology (KAIST) Department of Mechanical Engineering in South Korea.

G-Dragon received his appointment letter at the "Innovate Korea 2024" event at KAIST on June 5, 2024. According to Korea Times, he will be visiting professor. 

The goal of the appointment is to boost the global competitiveness of Korean culture by utilizing the latest science and technology from KAIST in K-content and the cultural industry.

In an agreement signed between KAIST and G-Dragon’s agency, Galaxy Corporation, he will teach leadership in the university's mechanical engineering department effective until 2026. Additionally, he will organize cultural events for students and promote the university internationally.

The agreement will involve G-Dragon working with KAIST on research in AI, robotics, the metaverse, and the creation of artist avatars.

“It is an honor to be appointed as visiting professor at KAIST, a cradle for numerous scientific geniuses," G-Dragon said in his acceptance speech. “I look forward to the great synergy, or 'Big Bang', that will occur when my expertise in entertainment meets with top-notch science and technology experts."

He mentioned in a panel discussion that, even though class details aren't available yet, his lectures will offer students the vision and insights they need to become leaders in their fields.
