The first Monday in May, at least here in our tropical country, the Philippines, we woke up with the beautiful faces of celebrities across the globe flaunting on our social media feeds, as these stars blazed a trail of brilliance through the halls of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The 2024 Met Gala theme, "Sleeping Beauty," ignited a kaleidoscope of makeup masterpieces, each with its own enchanting narrative.
Blush reigned supreme. Inspired by the fleeting beauty of blooms, cheeks were adorned in shades of rosy pinks, fiery corals, and even daring fuchsias. Gigi Hadid's look was a breathtaking watercolor wash, the blush swept high on her cheekbones and fading into a delicate sunset along her temples.
Eyes told stories of their own. Zendaya, ever the icon, and probably one of the most awaited faces of the night, painted a tale of gothic glamor. Her razor-thin brows gave her stare a silent-film mystique, further amplified by deep burgundy shadows and a near-black plum lip. It was a hauntingly beautiful ode to the ephemeral.
Florals blossomed anew, not just on gowns, but painted across skin. Rebecca Hall was a walking canvas, matching hand-painted blossoms cascading across her shoulders and décolletage to the appliqué of her dress.
Dewy skin and glossy hair captured the theme's focus on "awakening." Faces radiated health, with complexions like a freshly watered garden. Soft waves and sleek updos gleamed as if misted with morning dew, a testament to the revitalizing power of nature.
Definitely the 2024 Met Gala became an ephemeral garden in itself. But who’s your favorite look?
