PCCI-CAR optimistic for business growth in John Hay ecozone

The resolved land dispute to occupy a property in the John Hay Special Economic Zone would open more economic and business opportunities in Baguio City, according to the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry - Cordillera Administrative Region (PCCI-CAR).

PCCI-CAR Regional Governor Deimler O. Cuyan said that the recent land turnover to the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) would welcome the sustainability and stability of businesses in Baguio and its neighboring towns.

“[This] decision brings a renewed business environment that will foster investment and trade opportunities for the Baguio business community,” Cuyan said. “These new prospects will optimize the potential of Camp John Hay as a catalyst of economic growth in Baguio and the CAR.”

Their optimism stemmed from the recent Supreme Court decision to allow BCDA to reclaim the 247-hectare property from the Camp John Hay Development Corporation (CJHDevCo).

The Supreme Court took action last April for the state-run enterprise to utilize the John Hay Special Economic Zone to its full interest and benefit both Filipino citizens and the government.

"We strongly support the national government in further creating a robust business environment in the region. We are confident that the ongoing efforts will yield remarkable results and create lasting changes for the better," Cuyan added.
