Progressive group Anakbayan echoed its call on Tuesday, May 7, to release the six activists, famously known as the "Mayo Uno 6," who were arrested during the Labor Day protest.
The group pointed out that despite the presence of "resibo ng piyansa" (receipt of bail) and release orders, the said activists remained behind bars.
"Labis-labis ang presensya ng mga pulis sa kada pagkilos maging ngayon sa nagaganap na mapayapang picket. Nakalinya ang mga trak at iba pang mobile na hindi naman kailangan. Noong mga nakaraang araw din, ultimo pagkain ay hindi pinapaabot sa kanila. Hindi rin pinapabisita ang mga kaibigan, kasamahan, at kamag-anak nila," Anakbayan said in a statement.

In the past few days, even their meals were not provided to them. Visitors, including friends, colleagues, and relatives, are also not allowed to visit them.)
The group called on Manila City Mayor Honey Lacuna to address the said case.
"Nananawagan kami kay Manila City Mayor Honey Lacuna na agad na tugunan ang kasong ito at itulak ang kaniyang LGU (local government unit) na umalalay para sa kaagarang paglaya ng Mayo Uno 6. Sa simula palang, walang kahit anong rason para ikulong sila," Anakbayan said.
(We are calling on Manila City Mayor Honey Lacuna to immediately address this case and urge her LGU to facilitate the immediate release of the Mayo Uno 6. From the beginning, there is no valid reason to detain them.)
According to the report, the Manila Police District (MPD) arrested six individuals on May 1, one of whom was female, during a disturbance on Kalaw Avenue.
They were allegedly attempting to approach the United States (US) Embassy to protest against the ongoing Balikatan Exercises.

Moreover, Anakbayan encouraged other youths and all citizens to amplify the call for the release of Mayo Uno 6.
